Lampang
Lampang
On their way to Lampang, about 16-kilometers away from the city, the team find the amazing monument, Wat Pra That temple.
This is one of those unique points where you realise you’re in another part of the country. Being one of the most important temples in Thailand, you are straight away confronted with a unique serpent lining each side of the stairway.
The temple is one of the best examples of Lanna style architecture in Thailand. Being open on either sides is typical of Lanna style buildings. While some temples have been restored using modern techniques and materials, this temple has been preserved in its original state.
The temple was founded in the 13th century and its name translates to the temple of Lampang’s great Buddha relic. It is believed that a single strand of hair from Buddha himself is buried under the main 45-metre high chedi.
A bit further down the road you will arrive at the city centre, where you will notice one thing that you wont see anywhere else in Thailand. Lampang is completely unique because it’s one of the last places you can actually get around in horse and cart! This is still a traditional form of transport despite all the cars. This is a brilliant way to see the city, no better way!
