Movie Making Magic
Movie Making Magic
Wellington, otherwise known as ‘Wellywood’, is home to the countries movie-making hub where magical films come to life. Caty visits the set location for some of the scenes filmed in The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar and King Kong.
To get a true taste of the movie experience, you have to visit the award winning Weta Workshop and take a behind the scenes look into some of the world’s biggest films. Weta Workshop have created a tour facility to take people around the processes of how they create, design, digitally model, fabricate some of the worlds favourite props and characters from movies we all know and love. The best bit? The guides are the people who created them! Fans will certainly be in their element.
Take a look into the history of Weta Workshop, and learn about the original creation over 35 years ago by Sir Richard Taylor. The team grew thanks to a close working relationship with Sir Peter Jackson and the talented team have now won 5 Oscar awards, 4 BAFTA awards and a string of others for their costumes, make-up and visual effects. Visit Weta Workshop and get an inspiring insight into the creativity of the art of Weta.
