Sunday Night Walking Street
Sunday Night Walking Street
The team hit the pavement and experience the Sunday Night Walking Street Market in Chiang Mai. The atmosphere in the markets in Thailand is great! There’s bargains to be had and amazing food to eat.
The Sunday Walking Street is a large market right in the centre of the old walled city area of Chiang Mai. It starts at The Pae Gate and runs along the length of Ratchadamnoen Road. The market is open every Sunday night from 4pm to midnight.
This market is famous for locals. The people from the local area of the neighbouring provinces bring their handmade products to sell here. This market is very unique to individual cultures. The quality and price are incomparable to anywhere else. Feel free to negotiate, but the sellers generally sell their items for not much more than what the product costs to make.
There are so many tasty Thai food here and you can even pop into one of the temples along the way. Their grounds will also have stalls of freshly cooked Thai treats. Theo gets some deep fried pork with chicken wings and a side of sausage; Sujet simply can’t walk away from one of his favourite Thai delicacies, mango sticky rice.
The market is alive with street entertainers and absolutely anything you could ever want to buy. You wont find the imitation designer labels here – it’s all local craftsmanship and are of the northern Thai people.
Definitely plan on having a Sunday night dinner right here at the market where you will be spoilt for choice.
