Exploring further Afield
New Zealand’s top food and wine destination Wairarapa is home to stunning forest environments and spectacular coastal and mountain scenery. The townships of Greytown and Masterton were the first inland towns in the country, making this journey to the Wairarapa region a very important part of your visit to Wellington.
A 70-minute drive or pleasant train trip from Wellington, you will find remarkable townships to explore. Trevor meets with bike tour operator, Green Jersey Cycle Tours and is taken to local Martinborough wineries. The best way to see the town really is by bike and you wont be able to imagine a more glorious day than riding through the glorious vineyards. Arriving at the award winning Te Kairanga winery, Trevor learns Martinborough is famous for its pinot noir.
Whilst breathing in the fresh country air, enjoy a quick 20-minute drive to Greytown to view even more incredible scenery.
