Episode: 1
TX Date: February 9th, 2019
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Qingdao, in China’s eastern Shandong province, is a port city of skyscrapers, parks and beaches bordering the Yellow Sea. It's known for its beer, a legacy of the German occupation (1898-1914).
- Qingdao boasts one of the longest beaches in all of Asia and with its proximity to both Korea and Japan, Qingdao stands as one of China’s most important trade centres.
- The city’s German and Japanese heritage structures have for the most part been preserved in Badaguan, a historical mansion area which literally translates to “the Great Eight Passes†and its streets are named after great military fortresses from the region.
- With Viking you can take a guided tour or self-tour with a “quiet vox†audio guide filling you in on the city’s rich heritage as you explore.
- What a great way to explore a city.
