Rock Climbing
Ao Nang is a developed town but charming with a small town feel. It’s a great destination to visit as Railay, one of the best beaches in the world, which is just a 10-minute long tail boat ride away from Ao Nang and Krabi.
So visit this little beachside town, and if you want some adrenaline rush, make your way to Railay Beach for some adventure.
For many people visiting this beach, it is all about the beautiful sandy beaches, the environment and maybe the beautiful resorts – just to relax.
But for others, it’s all about the adrenaline rush. You see, these massive limestone cliffs, are perfect for rock climbing.
The rock is all limestone, and it is part of the world’s largest coral reef. There are over 700 routes available – from beginners to right up to the advanced. There’s something for everyone.
The Railay Rock Climbing Shop has been operating at Railay Beach for years and offers the best rock climbing experience for newbies and experienced climbers alike. How you climb is up to you. Choose an experienced guide to tell you the path to the top or go it alone with your own partner. There are many different levels of difficulty to climb.
I tried the top rope climbing up the cliff – the idea is to use your legs to push yourself up the wall, not pulling with your hands. Getting a few metres off the ground gets your adrenaline going and heart pumping.
At the top – take a look at the amazing view.
What an experience.
After the climb, visit the other side of Railay. Railay West, a short stroll past the limestone walls, opens up to a beautiful beach – a perfect spot to end your Railay Beach adventure.
