Opened in 1992 the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden is situated in the Mae Sa area about 20km from Chiang Mai at the foothills of the Doi Suthep/Pui Mountain. The gardens have a variety of glasshouses featuring various groups of Thai flora including a house dedicated to carnivorous plants. The main glass house complex features a display of plants from the tropical rainforest with a raised walk way and waterfall.

- Originally named the Mae Sa Botanic Garden, it was renamed after Sirikit, Queen of Thailand in 1994.
- Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden (QSBG) is the first botanical garden in the country at international standards.
- In 1994, the QSBG received the honor from HM the Queen name this northern botanic garden after Her Majesty ‘s name as “Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden”.
- The gardens cover an area of 1000 hectares with an estimated 22,000 plant species native to Thailand.
- The main objectives of the Garden are to serve as a center of Thai flora for botanical study and research biodiversity and environmental conservation.
- At the Botanical Garden there is also a Museum of Natural Science and an amazing orchid nursery.
- The Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden supports an ecological research facility attached to Thailand's third largest herbarium and seed bank.
