- One of Portugal’s most distinctive art forms is the blue-and-white ceramic tiles known as azulejos that adorn the exterior and interior of buildings throughout the city. Intricate and beautiful, these tiles illustrate everyday life and important events that have shaped Portugal’s history.
- Join your guide for a visit to Lisbon’s National Tile Museum, housed in the Madre de Deus Convent.
- During a guided museum tour, you will learn about the centuries-old Portuguese tile-making tradition and see some examples, including a 1,300-tile Lisbon cityscape made in 1738.
- You will also have the opportunity to participate in a tile workshop, making your own decorative tile to take home with you.
