Christchurch is the gateway to the South Island; full of historical and contemporary architecture, including good food and wine. Trevor Cochrane and Chrissy Morrissy show us some of the fantastic features of Christchurch.
Its street art scene, the sizzling food scene, and its famous wine scene – it’s all happening here and you need to come and visit Christchurch.
- The old Christchurch tram ride is the perfect way to see the city in just 17 stops. All trams have been beautifully restored, to take you on a 52-minute round trip. www.welcomeabroad.co.nz
- Stop 12 on the tram ride will leave you at Christchurch botanical gardens. Since 1863, 1000’s of different plants grow across the 30-hectare grounds.
- Another great way you can check it Christchurch is by ‘punting’ along the Avon River. Rain, hail or shine it’s possible to catch a ride along the beautiful pristine water.
- The boats on Christchurch’s Avon River can carry up to 8 people- but if you are after a romantic cruise it can easily be arranged.
