Its is believed that in Carlingford, Country Louth the last colony of leprechauns live deep within the mountains

• In 1989, a local Inn keeper P.J.O Hare found a Leprechauns suit,and bones, on Foy Mountain, above Carlingford in Co.Louth
• In the pocket of the trousers he found 4 gold coins. Those coins were to be the catalyst through which the Local Leprechaun Whisperer, Mc Coillte, would 20 years later, be told the life story of Ireland's Leprechauns
• There are just 236 leprechaun's left in existence and in 2009 the E.U Habitats directive included leprechaun's in the protected flora, fauna and wild animals list declaring the slate rock area a protected site
• Every year they hold a national leprechaun hunt day to celebrate the E.U ruling and eager hunters search for ceramic leprechauns with money being raised by the event donated to the local children's hospital
