Join Trevor on an exciting expedition as he explores the magnificent Slieve League, with its towering cliffs, rugged terrain, and rich history.
- The stunning Slieve League, boasting some of Europe's highest sea cliffs at 601m (1,972 feet), offers visitors a breathtaking view of Donegal Bay and the Sligo Mountains.
- Leaving their car behind, visitors can walk to the viewing platform and take in the spectacular scenery.
- The area also features "Éire" stones that once acted as a navigational aid for aircraft during World War II.
- In Teelin, nearby to Slieve League, a brown-cowled figure stands solemnly in prayer next to a boat, commemorating the 5th-century monks who departed from this historic part of Donegal to sail the perilous seas to Iceland.
- The recently upgraded walking trail commences on the west coast of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland and leads through the spacious Sperrin Mountains, the rugged Causeway Coast, and the magnificent Glens of Antrim in Northern Ireland before culminating in the port of Larne.
- With a total length of 279 miles, the route passes through a range of landscapes and can be completed in its entirety, in stages, or as part of a day walk, with historical monuments, stunning views, areas of exceptional natural beauty, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with geological ties to the Appalachian Mountains along the way.
