Emily Bay is in the top 10 Beaches in Australia. Trevor puts on his mask and snorkel to discover the underwater life of the Bay and to see just why it has won this prestigious title.
- Emily Bay is located in the heart of the Kingston UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site on Norfolk Island.
- Emily Bay has been named one of the Top 10 Beaches in Australia in TripAdviser’s Choice Awards for 2017.
- At Emily Bay, visitors can enjoy the safety of a protected bay with pristine waters and swimming/snorkelling experiences available for all levels of confidence.
- Emily Bay has reef-sheltered waters which are perfect for a snorkel, a paddle and there’s an offshore pontoon, known locally as ‘the raft’, from where visitors can jump into the water.
- The plate corals on the reef are huge and provide layers of hiding space for the myriad of sea creatures such as sea urchins.
- Editor and writer Sue Pryor has been swimming on this reef for the last 20 years and has just recently begun documenting her swims. She has identified 140 different species inside the reef thus far.
- Emily Bay exhibits many different types of anemones such as the Bubble-tip anemones which resemble little flowers.
