20 minutes from the heart of Edinburgh lies Broomhall House, the family home of King Robert the Bruce.

- King Robert the Bruce was a mighty Scottish warrior who secured independence from the English in the 12th Century at the Battle of Bannockburn.
- For the first time in 300 years, the Bruce family has opened the doors to Broomhall, exclusively for Viking guests.
- The Bruce family came to Britain in the 11th Century. They were Norsemen who had settled in France, and were invited to Scotland to share their more sophisticated administrative techniques.
- Broomhall was built in 1702, and has been rebuilt a couple of times – in 1766 and 1798.
- The family’s most important heirloom, King Robert’s sword of state has been passed down through 36 generations of the family from father to son.
