London is a city that needs no introduction, and Viking offering an exciting shore excursion into the heart of the city.

  • There is no better way to take in the spectacle of London than from the waters of the Thames on the Thames Clipper. The river has been an integral part of Londoners lives for 2000 years, and the city has grown to be one of the most influential on the planet.
  • There are a number of highlights along the Thames – the historic Tower of London, the Tower Bridge, and London Bridge.
  • The Shard, Europe’s tallest building, is a 95-storey skyscraper, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. It stands at 309.6 metres high, and is made of 11,000 glass panels.
  • The Clipper passes by both ultra-modern and ancient buildings, including the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

  • There are 32 capsules on the London Eye, representing the number of boroughs in London. The capsules never stop moving, moving slowly as 26cm per second, making it easy to step in.
  • The builders of the wheel were superstitious – the capsules are numbered from 1-33, missing the number 13.
  • The structure is 135 metres tall, with a diameter of 120 metres. When it was built in 1999, it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, but is now the fourth biggest.
  • On a clear day, you can see up to 40 miles, all the way to Windsor Castle. Dusk offers spectacular views, letting you see 360 degrees around London.
