Island Hopping
Explore Thailand 2015
Island Hopping
One of the greatest pleasures you will have in Thailand is spending time on the beach and exploring the coastline. The beaches are, without doubt, one of this country’s most famous assets and exploring the islands of the idyllic coastal town of the Andaman Sea is something everyone needs to do at least once in their lifetime!
Island hopping is great fun. Get yourself aboard a long boat to explore the Koh Mook and Tam Morakot islands. The boat trip allows you to relax, soaking up Thailand’s sensational sunshine and breathing the fresh sea air in deeply -- if you ever needed a way to relax, this has got to be one of the best.
As you travel on the boat, you will be amaze with the sheer size of the cliffs you’ll encounter. You will see the vegetation trying to find any life to cling onto – amazing. On our boat trip, we saw a huge ficus growing on a cliff.
There are a lot of islands here in the Andaman Sea… thousands really…but Koh Mook, also known as Charlie’s Island or Farang Beach is a stop you cannot go past. The pure white sandy beach with its crystal blue waters offers a little more than just an idyllic landscape. Its pretty much paradise… clean, relatively untouched and perfect for a quiet escape.
If you aren’t relaxed already from island hopping then having a massage on Koh Mook Island is the perfect way to relax. For around 12 dollars, who will say no!
Nestled right on the water’s edge, it is the perfect way to unwind and release all of life’s stresses. It’s run by the Koh Mook resort located on the island, and operated by a small family business under the shade of a purpose-built cabana.
If you would rather something refreshing then how about a stroll along the waterline or even a bit of shuteye in your own hammock under the shade of the palm trees whilst sipping a coconut cocktail?
A short boat trip to the neighbouring island brings us to yet another secluded bay. Swimming is definately on the top of my list here, a massage a cocktail then a splash in waters that are around 24 degrees Celsius. What more can you ask for? This is the Thailand I’ve been waiting for. It’s a picture postcard.
You can’t come to Thailand without exploring the many stunning coral reefs dotted around the Andaman Sea. It has some of the best snorkelling sites in the world with the widest diversity of marine life anywhere under the ocean surface. No matter what level of swimmer you are, these waters are perfect to don a snorkel and take a dip, you would be crazy not too. Seeing all sorts of tropical fish darting around you as you move through the warm water at a leisurely pace can only be described as a magical under water world experience. Because the conditions are so ideal, you could do this for hours.
The Andaman Sea in Thailand’s south is one of the most iconic coastlines on the planet. The sparkling blue waters with gigantic limestone cliffs popping out as far as the eye can see is truly breathtaking. Travelling on your own private boat stopping anywhere you like is a great way to travel.
Wherever you go, you will find a place to book a tour. Definitely a must see when in Thailand.
