The Bazaruto National Park is a group of 5 islands, around an hour’s boat ride from the coastline.

  • An area known for its stunning dunes, the Mozambique government have invested a large amount of money in keeping the marine environment protected.
  • The islands are inhabited by the Vahoka people, who have been in the region for many generations. The archipelago is home to 5045 people, all of whom look after the environment and the species found on the island.
  • The archipelago is home to a huge variety or rare species, such as the dugong and the manta ray. On the islands, you’ll also be able to find monkeys and crocodiles – the lagoons on the island are full of them.
  • Tourism is extremely important for these communities, as they rely on it to survive. With conservation being their key message, the Bazaruto Archipelago is a truly fantastic place to visit.
