One of the more popular Korean health experiences is known as the jimjilbang, a spa offering a great deal of health treatments.

  • With a temperature of 47 degrees, the light and salt room has hot stones on the floor and an infrared light, designed to draw toxins out of your body. At a chilly 7 degrees, the cold sauna is designed to awaken your senses. The anion room will send extra vitamins zooming into your open pores.
  • The jimjilbang is an extremely social place, with families and friends coming here for hours at a time. There are private rooms for couples, as well as many areas if you just want to chill out.
  • While visiting a jimjilbang, make sure to try their specialty food – stone cooked eggs. You eat these by cracking them over someone’s head. There is a delicious pumpkin juice to wash the eggs down.
  • At around $20, these spas are fantastic ways to relax, and to get yourself a bit more in touch with the local Korean culture.
